Keurig K-Mini Single Serve Coffee Maker Review – How Good Is It?
Now that we have seen what the Keurig K-Mini Single Serve Coffee Maker can do, let’s see how good it really is. To evaluate its performance, I will look at four aspects: taste, convenience, durability, and value.
1. Keurig K-Mini Single Serve Coffee Maker Review – The Taste
Well, in a Keurig K-Mini Single Serve Coffee Maker Review, what can be more important than the taste? The taste of the coffee brewed here depends largely on the quality of the pods that you use.
There are hundreds of different flavors and brands of K-Cup pods available on the market, so you can choose the ones that suit your preferences. Some of the most popular ones are Starbucks, Green Mountain, Dunkin’ Donuts, Folgers, and Maxwell House. You can also try some exotic or specialty ones like Bizzy cold brew or different Honduras coffee brands.
But there is something you can control. The Keurig K-Mini also gives you some control over the strength of your coffee by letting you choose the cup size and the strong brew option. The smaller the cup size, the stronger the coffee will be, and the strong brew button will increase the brewing time and the water temperature to extract more flavor from the pod.
However, if you are looking for a true espresso experience, you might be disappointed by the Keurig K-Mini, as it cannot produce enough pressure or crema to make a real espresso. For that, you might want to look for a different type of coffee maker, such as a Nespresso or a DeLonghi. For more info on this, read my De Longhi Coffee Machine Magnifica Review.
2. Convenience
The Keurig K-Mini is very convenient to use, as it does not require any complicated setup or maintenance. You just need to add water and a pod, press a button, and wait for your coffee to be ready. You can also store up to 9 pods in the pod storage unit that comes with the coffee maker, so you don’t have to worry about running out of pods or finding a place to keep them.
The coffee maker also has an auto-off feature that turns it off after 90 seconds of inactivity, so you don’t have to worry about wasting energy or leaving it on by mistake.
The Keurig K-Mini is also very easy to clean, as it has a removable water reservoir and a removable drip tray that you can wash with water and soap. The pod holder and the needle that punctures the pods can also be removed and rinsed with water.
You should also descale the coffee maker every 3-6 months using a descaling solution or white vinegar to remove any mineral buildup that might affect the taste or performance of the coffee maker.

3. Durability
The Keurig K-Mini is made of plastic, which makes it lightweight and portable, but also less durable than other materials like stainless steel or metal. The plastic parts might crack or break if dropped or mishandled, and the plastic taste might linger in the coffee if not cleaned properly.
The coffee maker also has some moving parts, such as the lid, the reservoir, and the pod holder, that might wear out or malfunction over time. The coffee maker comes with a one-year limited warranty that covers any defects in materials or workmanship, but not any damage caused by misuse or abuse.
4. Value
The Keurig K-Mini is one of the most affordable K-Cup coffee makers on the market. However, you should also consider the cost of the pods that you will need to buy to use the coffee maker, as they are more expensive than regular coffee grounds or beans.
A pack of 40 K-Cup pods costs around $29, which means that each cup of coffee will cost you around $0.72. This is still cheaper than buying coffee from a coffee shop, but more expensive than making your own coffee at home using other methods.
K-Mini Compared to the Mueller Single Serve Pod
In my Keurig K-Mini Single Serve Coffee Maker Review, I liked to come up with a similar alternative. To give you a better idea of how the Keurig K-Mini stacks up against other products in its category,
I will compare it to the Mueller Single Serve Pod Compatible Coffee Maker Machine.
- Both products have a removable one-cup reservoir that you can fill with fresh water for each brew and a removable drip tray that can accommodate travel mugs up to 7 inches tall.
They also have a strong brew button that lets you brew a stronger and more intense cup of coffee and an auto-off feature that turns off the coffee maker after a period of inactivity to save energy.
- The Keurig K-Mini is smaller and lighter than the Mueller Single Serve, as it has a dimension of 4.5″D x 11.3″W x 12.1″H and weighs 6.6 pounds, while the Mueller Single Serve has a dimension of 7.48″D x 13.78″W x 11.42″H and weighs 10 pounds.
This means that the Keurig K-Mini is more compact and portable, while the Mueller Single Serve takes up more space on your countertop.
- The Mueller Single Serve has some extra features that the Keurig K-Mini does not have, such as a pod storage unit that fits in your brewer and can hold up to 9 K-Cup pods, a large opening that makes it easy to fill and clean the water reservoir, and a front gauge that shows the water level.
These features make the Mueller Single Serve more convenient and user-friendly than the Keurig K-Mini.
Short Thought on Price and Value
As prices and offers will always vary, I do not like to get too deep into this It looks to me, that at the moment the Mueller Ultima is a bit more expensive than the Keurig K-Mini. However, the Mueller Ultima also offers more features and convenience than the Keurig K-Mini, such as a larger water reservoir, an LCD display, and a self-cleaning function.
Therefore, the Mueller Ultima might be worth the extra money if you value these features and convenience more than the size and portability of the coffee maker. On the other hand, the Keurig K-Mini might be a better choice if you are looking for a simple and compact device that can brew a decent cup of coffee in minutes.
Keurig Single Serve vs Mini
The main difference between the Keurig Single Serve and the Keurig Mini is the size of the water reservoir. The Single Serve has a large 45 oz. water reservoir that can brew up to 10 cups before refilling, while the Mini has a small one-cup reservoir that needs to be filled with fresh water for each brew.
This means that the Single Serve is more convenient for multiple users or frequent drinkers, as it does not require constant refilling or waiting for the water to heat up.
The Mini is more suitable for single users or occasional drinkers, as it ensures that each cup is made with fresh water and does not waste any water or energy.
Another difference between the two products is the size and weight of the devices. The Single Serve has a dimension of 9.8″D x 13″W x 13″H and weighs 10 pounds, while the Mini has a dimension of 4.5″D x 11.3″W x 12.1″H and weighs 6.6 pounds.
This means that the Single Serve takes up more space on your countertop and is harder to move around or store away when not in use. The Mini is more compact and lightweight, which makes it ideal for small spaces or travel.
Keurig K-Mini Coffee Maker How to Use
Using the Keurig K-Mini Single Serve Coffee Maker is very easy and straightforward. Here are the steps that you need to follow to brew a cup of coffee with this device:
