Features

The Toddy Cold Brew System consists of a plastic brewing container with a handle, a rubber stopper, a reusable felt filter, a paper filter bag, and a glass decanter with a lid.

The system can brew up to 48 ounces of cold brew concentrate that can last for up to two weeks in the refrigerator. The concentrate can be diluted with water, milk, or ice to make hot or cold coffee drinks.

Performance

The Toddy Cold Brew System produces a smooth, rich, and low-acid coffee that is gentle on your stomach and teeth. It is versatile and customizable, as you can adjust the strength and flavor of your coffee by changing the ratio of water and coffee grounds, or by adding different ingredients such as spices, vanilla, or chocolate.

However, the Toddy Cold Brew System also requires patience and planning, as it takes at least 12 hours to brew and another 20 minutes to drain. It can also be inconsistent or disappointing, as some customers have complained that the coffee tastes too weak or too bitter, or that it changes over time.

Design

The Toddy Cold Brew System is easy to assemble and use, and it has only a few parts that are easy to clean and maintain. The felt filter can be reused up to 10 times and the paper filter bag can be recycled. The glass decanter has a cute shape and a lid that keeps the concentrate fresh.

However, the Toddy Cold Brew System also takes up a lot of space on your counter or in your fridge, as it is quite tall and bulky. It can also be messy or leaky, as some customers have reported that the rubber stopper or the felt filter can come loose or clog during brewing or draining.

Customer Feedback

The Toddy Cold Brew System has received mostly positive reviews from customers who have tried it. Many customers have praised its ease of use, quality of coffee, and value for money. Some customers have also compared it favorably to other brands of cold brew systems or coffee makers.

However, some customers have also expressed dissatisfaction with its design flaws, performance issues, or customer service. I like to give it a 4,7 of 5 possible.

How to Use the Toddy Cold Brew System

In my Toddy Cold Brew system review I wanted to help you and add a how to use the Toddy Cold Brew System section for beginners, like me. The Toddy Cold Brew System is easy to use, but it requires some preparation and patience. Here are the steps to follow to make your own cold brew concentrate with the Toddy Cold Brew System:

  1. Insert the rubber stopper into the bottom of the brewing container from the outside.
  2. Wet the felt filter and place it inside the bottom of the brewing container.
  3. Place the paper filter bag inside the container and add 12 ounces of coarsely ground coffee.
  4. Pour 56 ounces of cold water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion, making sure to wet them evenly.
  5. Twist the top of the bag to close it and let the mixture steep at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours.
  6. Remove the rubber stopper and let the concentrate drain into the glass decanter.
  7. Store the concentrate in the refrigerator with the lid on.

To make a cup of cold brew coffee, you need to dilute the concentrate with water, milk, or ice according to your taste preference. The recommended ratio is 1 part concentrate to 3 parts water or milk, but you can adjust it as you like. You can also add sugar, creamer, or other flavorings to your cold-brew coffee.

To make a cup of hot brew coffee, you need to heat up some water or milk and mix it with the concentrate in a similar ratio as above. You can also use a microwave or a stove to heat up your cold brew coffee, but be careful not to boil it or overheat it.

Not sure if you like to do this manually? Cold brew can be done with a coffee brewer too. Have a look at my Ninja Hot And Cold Brewed System CP307 Review to compare with a machine brewer.

Toddy Cold Brew System Filters

The Toddy Cold Brew System uses two types of filters: a reusable felt filter and a disposable paper filter bag. The felt filter is made of natural materials and helps reduce acidity and bitterness in your cold brew coffee. The paper filter bag is made of biodegradable materials and helps prevent clogging and leaking in your brewing container.

The felt filter can be reused up to 10 times or 3 months, whichever comes first. You need to rinse it with cold water after each use and store it in a ziplock bag in the freezer until next use. You also need to replace it if it becomes stained, torn, or worn out.

The paper filter bag can be used only once and then discarded. You need to place it inside the brewing container before adding coffee grounds and water. You also need to twist the top of the bag to close it before steeping.

You can buy replacement filters for your Toddy Cold Brew System online or at some retail stores. The filters are sold in packs of 2 felt filters and 24 paper filter bags, which should last you for about 6 months of regular use.
