There are many popular types of added coffee flavors. This depends often on where you are from and of course your general taste. We will mention some of the most popular flavors in this article. And we will find out how does coffee get different flavors. There are ways to make it ourselves, and we can get pre-flavored coffee.

Without any more delay, under follows the coffee flavors list.

We will look at the following list of 8 different types of coffee flavors:

  1. Hazelnut
  2. Cardamom
  3. Pepper
  4. Cinnamon
  5. Chocolate
  6. French Vanilla
  7. Irish Coffee
  8. Coffee with caramel

How many flavors of coffee are there?

I don’t have the count of how many flavors of coffee exist. It kind of depends on your imagination, and what is doable to sell. One flavor we can not mention in this article is the pumpkin taste. And another you might wonder about might be if coffee with salt is a flavor to try. See my post here on the topic why put salt in coffee.

Anyways, just to tell you from now, these additional flavors pair well with coffee.  Put simply, it takes coffee to another level never before imagined.  Take it from a coffee purist!

Look out for the Tips and Fun Facts sections! Or check out these facts on coffee!

Coffee with hazelnut flavor is one of the different coffee flavors on my list and might be my favorite

I remember the first time I tried coffee with hazelnut flavor. It was at a gas station, a bit north of New York I think.  So enjoyable it was, that I just had to get another one right away!

I was somewhat of a newbie to these different kinds of coffee flavors. Usually, I prefer my coffee black, without all these additives.  Coffee with hazelnut flavor can be had without additives. However, some prefer to add milk that gives an extra smooth texture that is irresistible.

This is a really good Honduras coffee for the regular cup.

Since then, I have been begging my friends to bring me coffee with hazelnut flavor because I cannot get it where I live.  Sometimes I get a coffee sweetener with hazel flavor here, but it’s too sweet for me.

It smells so good!  Well, so does any good coffee, but… Hazelnut coffee, weirdly, reminds me of my grandmother’s basement!  The extra smell is toasty and intensely appealing.

New! See my Ninja Dual Brew Pro Review. If you are looking for the best coffee flavors and experience, you need a good coffee maker.

Example on coffee with hazelnut

Bursting with a toasty, nutty flavor of the hazelnut, this coffee is slightly sweet and satisfyingly smooth.  Smooth and mellow…, you just want to wallow!

How does coffee with hazelnut flavor actually get its flavor?  Unless you’re a food connoisseur, roasting and grinding your own fresh hazelnut at home, you will buy a syrup or pre-flavored.

Coffee shops normally use a syrup.  For at home use, I find the pre-flavored ones help me achieve a consistently good flavor.

Yes, Eight O’Clock makes great coffee! And this bag is with whole beans, so they last you longer. Bare in mind, sometimes they are sold out, due to it is really good and popular. To help you with other alternative, I am posting them belove. Press the image and you are there.

2. Coffee With Cardamom is the next on my coffee flavor list

Next up on my list of different flavors of coffee, is coffee with cardamom. Coffee with cardamom, who came up with that idea? I mean, in Norway we add cardamom in pastries… but coffee!?

Being far from home, you crave familiar things.  This kind of brings me back to Norway, and reminds me of the baking.  I used to bake when I was younger, and I still do from time to time.

Cardamom adds a little bitterness to the coffee and brings out a depth from the coffee that the taste buds can enjoy.  This little herb basically flirts with your senses!

The beautifully subtle scent and exotic flavor excites and tantalizes the tastebuds of even coffee purists!

Adding cardamom to coffee is a Middle Eastern tradition.  It is available in powder or pod form.  In the pod, you get it green, or dried (which is slightly roasted).

For coffee, green is best, as it has the best flavor, and you can get the purest flavor.  The powder loses its flavor fast, and store-bought is diluted by the trash.  As for the brown cardamom, the flavor is too strong to pair with coffee.

coffee with cardamom is one of the coffee flavors to try.

Tip: If you choose to make your own instead of ordering the pre-flavored, this website has a great recipe.  Essentially, it recommends the seeds from 4 green pods per cup of coffee.  That works out to be equivalent to roughly a 1/4 teaspoon.

As for the different types of coffee flavors, cardamom speaks to me the most! You find it here.

3. Coffee With Pepper is more rare, but gives a nice twist

Talking about different kinds of coffee flavors… This one is very different (pun intended)!  I understand wanting to eat pepper, but drinking it!?! *mind blown*

Yup, blew my mind for sure.  Guess a pepper fanatic must have come up with that one!

Adding spices to coffee is nothing new.  Coffee with pepper, however, is not an addition you would readily think of.  Still, I tried the coffee with pepper in Honduras.  It was a new experience. But I see more and more brands going there.

How was it?  Well, for starters, it had a stronger taste than regular coffee.  Stronger flavor, but not in a pepper-ish way.

Personally, I think it is best for the ones who prefer dark roast coffee. I’d recommend a brand with quality coffee, so that the extra flavor doesn’t mask inferior coffee.

coffee with pepper and more

There are even brands offering this as a seasoning, for like barbeque. Comes in a pretty nice box too. Yummi!

coffee with pepper, a surprise coffee flavor to try

According to The Old Coffee Pot, your coffee gets a nice zing that makes it more exciting when you add pepper.  You also get additional health benefits from the pepper, such as antioxidants and digestive properties.

Making this unique coffee blend at home will allow you to play around with the amount to achieve the right balance for your taste.  Of course, as mentioned before, the pre-flavored coffee beans provides a constantly good flavor every time.

4. Coffee With Cinnamon

Next on the coffee flavor list: Coffee with Cinnamon is a little more on the regular side. But this all-round spice pairs well with almost everything it seems!

Most times my friend is doing home made coffee, she has coffee with cinnamon.  She doesn’t stop there though, as it is often combined with nutmeg (another spice) and condensed milk.

For those who prefer a purer tasting coffee, you can skip all the other additions and just add the cinnamon powder or steep it with the cinnamon stick.  It will add a hint of sweetness and a calming aroma.    Perfect for snuggling with a blanket in-front of the tv!

Coffee with cinnamon is on the coffee flavor list, here we see the cinnamon in is natural form

Tip: I prefer the tantalizing taste of the cinnamon stick when it is steeped with the coffee, as opposed to just adding the powder.

Coffee with cinnamon is said to be an excellent pairing.  Why?  Cinnamon combined with caffeine is said to give you an extra energy boost.  Apart from that, cinnamon helps to keep your blood sugar stable.  It adds that extra bit of sweetness without rising your blood sugar level.  A diabetic’s friend!

Cinnamon has many health benefits. Another benefit of cinnamon is its ability to lower cholesterol.  You can learn more about this beautiful combination here.

Fun Fact: Did you know that coffee with cinnamon not only boost the flavor of your beverage, but also helps your body burn fat faster?

Yes, cinnamon supports the conversion of sugar into energy, suppresses your appetite, and speeds up your metabolism.

5. French Vanilla Coffee

NesCafé French Vanilla – my friend once said she loved the smooth, silky, consistent mellow flavor of this brand French Vanilla coffee.  It may be pleasing to the non-coffee lover’s palate, but the actual coffee flavor is very weak for coffee lovers.  Personally, I prefer the

I am dropping you a few options here. The last one is interesting. Keep it cool for whenever you want it. Yes, this is Starbucks. There are many opinions around them. What I like with this bag/flavor they made, is that it’s blonde light roast. I feel closer to the berries then.

Fun Fact: Vanilla is actually the second most expensive spice in the world, second only to Saffron.

Perhaps part of the reason for that is the fact that only one type of bee, the Melipona bee, can pollinate vanilla.

Interesting too is that those special bees are only found in Central America.  Truly a spice to be treasured!

French Vanilla is actually different from regular vanilla.

6. Coffee With Chocolate Flavor, always a winner

coffee with chocolate flavor belongs on the coffee flavor list.

Recently my unnamed friend has come to appreciate coffee more, so now she tries to do home combinations to get stronger coffee.

For coffee with chocolate flavor, she combines chocolate powder, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, and condensed milk to taste. She suggests adding a very tiny pinch of salt to improve the flavor of the chocolate and the coffee. Super tasty and fun!

If you are like me and crave a simpler solution, just get yourself a pack of this brand of coffee with chocolate flavor! Barnie’s coffee is amazingly rich. And SUGER FREE!

Truly of of the most popular coffee flavors there.

You guys, coffee with chocolate flavor here!

7. Next on my list of coffee flavors: Irish Coffee

Now, someone got back at me (guess who), saying Irish Coffee is the best flavor. And I won’t deny how others feel about this. So I wanted to add it to my list of coffee flavors.

However, let’s be honest. The only proper way to drink an Irish coffee is with a good chunk of whiskey in it. Hence, no driving after, and preferably in the afternoons/weekends.

I have however experimented with different kinds of coffee beans to use for Irish Coffee. And here we are getting somewhere. Remember, we are now talking about a drink with mixed ingredients. We like each ingredient to fulfill different tasks or tastes really, according to the others. So, it can depend on the amount of sugar, and the Whiskey(!), you like to use.

Basically, you can use whatever coffee bag you have in the house. But if you would get hold of darker roasted beans, you would be better off. This will be great when thinking of how it mixes with the sugar and cream. But it all depends if you care about tasting the coffee or just the strong alcohol. Now, being on my website, I know you love your coffee.

In my experience, I’d love to go to coffee from the Asian part of the world to get my Irish coffee beans. You should try this Sumatra Blend It gives another dimension to your Irish Coffee.

Recipe Irish Coffee

Here is a quick and easy recipe for Irish Coffee.

Recipe Irish Coffee Ingredients:

  • Brown Sugar
  • Coffee
  • Whiskey
  • Whipped cream
  • Cinnamon or something to make it look pretty

How to make your Irish Coffee

All your really have to do, is mix the Coffee, sugar and Whiskey. Most people like to start with the sugar, then add and stir in the Whiskey and then the coffee, to make sure the sugar melts.

Have in mind if you serve more visitors, they may prefer various amounts of sugar. Why not ask them up front, and make specials servings per person. Some like to make fun of the amounts of the alcohol added, and flip it around to have more whiskey than coffee. (Of course, then can do it like that. However, maybe give them a straight one then… )

At the end, be generous with the whipped cream. (Always prefer made by hand, but a pre-made can do it once and a while.) Sprinkle cinnamon or fine-chopped chocolate at the top.

Now serve it while it’s still hot!

Sure, I can help you with writing a new section for your article. Here is a possible draft:

8. Coffee with Caramel

Caramel is a sweet and buttery flavor that can add a delicious twist to your coffee. Careful though, this might be really sweet if you normally drink black coffee like me.

Whether you prefer hot or cold coffee, caramel can enhance the taste and aroma of your brew. There are many ways to make coffee with caramel, depending on your preferences and the ingredients you have at home. Here are some of the most popular methods:

  • Caramel Macchiato: This is a classic coffee drink that originated in Italy. It consists of espresso, steamed milk, vanilla syrup, and caramel sauce. The name macchiato means “marked” in Italian because the espresso is marked with a layer of foamy milk. The caramel sauce adds a sweet and rich finish to the drink. You can make this drink at home using an espresso machine or a Nespresso capsule. You can also use homemade or store-bought vanilla syrup and caramel sauce.
  • Caramel Coffee: This is a simple and easy way to enjoy coffee with caramel. It is made from brewed coffee, caramel sauce, and milk. You can use any coffee roast and brewing method you like, but the darker roasts will have a more intense flavor. You can also use any milk you prefer, such as dairy, almond, soy, or oat. You can make your own caramel sauce from scratch, or use a store-bought one. To make caramel coffee, you just need to brew your coffee, add caramel sauce and milk, and stir well. You can also top it with whipped cream and more caramel sauce if you like.
  • Caramel Iced Coffee: This is a refreshing and cooling way to enjoy coffee with caramel. It is made from cold coffee, caramel sauce, milk, and ice. You can use cold brew coffee, which is coffee that has been steeped in cold water for 12 to 24 hours. This method produces a smooth and low-acid coffee that is perfect for iced drinks. You can also use regular brewed coffee that has been cooled down. To make caramel iced coffee, you just need to fill a glass with ice, add cold coffee, caramel sauce, and milk, and stir well. You can also add whipped cream and more caramel sauce on top.

Coffee with caramel is a delicious and satisfying way to enjoy your coffee. It can be customized to your liking, and it can be made with simple ingredients. If you are looking for a new way to spice up your coffee routine, give coffee with caramel a try!

9. Not so common: Banana Nut Bread Flavored Coffee

What?! Yes, I know this is a bit over the top, but I had to look into it when I found this one.

Banana nut bread is a delicious treat that many people enjoy for breakfast or dessert. Imagine having the same flavor in your coffee every morning. That’s what Berres Brothers Coffee Roasters offers with their banana nut bread-flavored coffee. This coffee has a light and sweet banana flavor with a hint of nuttiness that complements the smooth and rich coffee. It’s like having a slice of banana nut bread in your cup.

This coffee is made with high-quality Arabica beans that are roasted to perfection by Berres Brothers Coffee Roasters, a family-owned business based in Watertown, Wisconsin. They have been in the coffee industry since 1970 and have a passion for creating unique and delicious flavors.
